Our Story

The Sudanese American Community Development Organization (SACDO) in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area is a leader in the Sudanese organizations throughout the United States. SACD’s mission and aims are providing social services and through public awareness, community mobilization, skill building and other services. SACDO seeks to link individuals and families to vital human services within a cultural context. The mission of the organization is to promote the mutual understanding and cooperation between Sudanese community members, and between SACDO and other communities, and to preserve and advance the diverse cultural heritage and social values of the Sudanese community. Furthermore, SACDO mission is to advocate cultural exchange, to promote education at all levels, and to cooperate with charitable and other organizations involved in community services. While Sudanese immigrants have grown over the past 10 years, the rate of SACDO member growth has slowed significantly. One key factor for this slowing growth rate is the shift the aging of the member and slow numbers of young individual participation in the organization Activities. In order SACDO to maintain young and mid-age members are should be capable of hosting the activities that capture the interest of these groups. SCADO’s activities occur only to fill only the interest of the head of the household and elite members. SACDO is losing potential leaders and active members if we do not act swiftly and fast to find a place that will foster the activities that interest those groups. The Sudanese House, which will be an effort of our active members will provide a healthy environment and shows a continued growth trajectory over the next five to ten years to our next beloved generation in the USA. SACDO is in a position to capitalize on these rebellion moments by leveraging existing members’ and to call our best practices, and an aggressive campaign to ramp up the organization’s growth projections for the foreseeable future.
